You did some nice stuff on this and the Ironhide one, Pietre. I dig your art style, it's so unique. :D

I like your look at Blurr... usually I find him sort of annoying, but you make him very sympathetic here. And the art is lovely - the contrast between the first and second panels is striking, particularly. And I like the little references... "paid me to advertise mini-machine toys" indeed. :XD:

Kind of sorry they made you change around the titles... it balances much better aesthetically this way.

thank you, jeysie ! i mean it. it means a lot coming from someone whose opinion i hold in high regard. i really enjoyed working on the anniversary mosaics and was really "going for it" with the artwork, so to speak. thank you also for the kind words on the writing. what's funny is that, for the two i wrote, i picked two characters whom i think a lot of fans find annoying, blurr and powerglide. i'm pretty fond of them both though, not only because i had both of their toys, but also because of episodes like "the girl who loved powerglide." in any case, thanks again !

You're welcome. :) Good work deserves praise.

I know what you mean about "going for it"... it's a theme that's really resonated with me. The characters, for all the fun they are, tend to be a little "token" with their personalities sometimes. So it's nice to have a theme where folks can take those traits and make them more realistic, give them purpose. And everyone's really been stepping up to the plate.

I never had a problem with Powerglide, oddly enough... maybe because his ego always seemed more benignly self-centered than insulting. (As in, he might think he's hot stuff, but he doesn't necessarily also think everyone else is a loser in comparison. There's room for more than one "hot stuff" in his world.)

Blurr, on the other hand... maybe it's an example of how being too similar to a character sometimes is a bad thing, as I used to be a horrible chatterbox when I was younger. (Now I'm just a *moderate* chatterbox... ;P)

Are those Gobots I'm seen there Pietre? poor Gobots, at least they got to bear autobots simbols this time.

And by the way I like this version better than the one at the mosaic page, the big open last panel looks great.

The way ahead has many forks. Potential choices. Unsung songs. Unspoken verse. All awaiting the moment when "What might be" has become "What is."

Interesting that you used GoBots in the beginning here--and sad that they (truly) got waxed.

There was always a question about what would motivate someone like Blurr in the war--they never spotlighted him personality wise--perhaps just enough to make him annoying. Given with what we know, this makes sense and is immensely gratifying a story line. The art is smooth and elegant. Very nice job.

Armed with the personality of Leprecaun gold on a winter's day...

m'am, i know exactly what you mean. i know that you only have a couple of inches of space in a tech-spec, but a lot of characters can be easily slotted into specific archetypes. it's been great fun getting to write what are basically single-page origin stories.

and your being a "chatterbox" is probably what's made you so facile with words and analysis -- lots of practice ;)
:iconpietrestan:
iskander! thank you for saying so, sir. i prefer the original layout as well, but was then so tired from the deadline-rush that i didn't protest. i see where they're coming from though. and you know, even when i was kid, i would "import" gobot characters into my imagined transformers scenarios. they do get a bad rap sometimes though and i liked both of the turbo and scooter toys.
:iconpietrestan:
thank you, tessombra. because of all my linework detailing and what not, i rarely hear "smooth and elegant" so thank you x2. i always wanted blurr to be more than comedy-relief or gimmick and as for the gobots, i kind of felt like it was "stunt-casting." turbo and scooter are both somewhat recognizable, and familiar enough to be at least passingly find of them, so there's some instant-wincing at seeing them hit. to be honest, i also felt sad drawing their being shot by megatron.
:icondavimusprime:
I've always liked Blurr, but he's always been a pretty-much one-dimensional character so it's great to see him "fleshed" out more! You did a brilliant job in both art & writing, Pietre - absolutelypositivelydefinitely :D
